| The Immigrant Leaders Fellows Program (ILF) supports
and trains emerging immigrant leaders committed to organizing
effective civic action in California’s Central Valley.
ILF enables fellows to explore and expand approaches to
civic participation by:
• Matching
fellows with CVP mentor organizations
• Assisting
fellows in developing and implementing learning plans
•
Hosting gatherings where fellows learn from one another,
develop skills, and gain knowledge
•
Providing fellows with stipends and resources to
participate in the program and to collaboratively plan
and implement the Annual CVP Leadership Institute
Today ILF celebrates:
• A graduating
cohort of eight inaugural fellows working on a variety
of issues, ranging from public health to immigration organizing
to cross-cultural exchange
• The first
Annual CVP Leadership Institute, collaboratively designed
and coordinated by ILF fellows and sponsoring organizations
• Expanded
civic action, leadership, and relationships across organizational
and geographic lines
QUOTES:
"Across the Valley, immigrants are taking on new
leadership roles—some struggle to educate fellow
parents in the local schools, others search for resources
to run literacy programs, others are simply building relationships
to encourage active citizenship among often isolated immigrant
families."—Noe Paramo, ILF Program Director
"Together we can make a big difference. In our churches
we are organizing health fairs—along with other
leaders in the program we can bring this service to new
communities and see what concerns we share."—Carmen
Mirazo, ILF Fellow with Sacramento Valley Organizing Community
